When I need a quick reset, a Metro North ride upstate always does it for me. The ride alone on the Hudson River is breathtaking. I usually stay with family in Poughkeepsie, but there are tons of cute BNB's to Google throughout the different towns.

Packing light is a must for me; in my getaway bag this weekend were two very warm turtlenecks––one cashmere, the other wool-blend, a light-weight (but super warm) down jacket by Athleta, my new shearling-lined Isabel Marant moccasin booties that I'm loving right now, and a pair of GAP boyfriend jeans (worn en route). Dressing warm is very necessary, and natural furs and yarns, unlike synthetic fabrics, are always the coziest.

Besides visiting my favorite spots: Mohonk Mountain, Walkway Over The Hudson, Schatzi's Pub & Bier Garden for sleep-inducing mulled wine and lobster rolls and Crew for oozing molten lava cake, I vintage shop. It's these tucked away little towns that have the best finds. Standby for my little find...
